A Time For Choosing – Two Opposite Paths

In our new-look America, it’s not only who votes that determines the outcome of elections, but even more crucial is who counts the votes! After decades of knowing the results of elections on election night, since the Covid Scamdemic some states refuse to announce winners for days after election day. This provides plenty of time to “discover” enough “lost,” or “misplaced” ballots to turn up to swing the election to the preferred candidate.

The only comforting thought for me in this situation is that my sovereign God “works all things according to the counsel of His will,” (Ephesians 1:11) including the results of this election. Those results will be exactly the results God has ordained, exactly what He desires, no matter who counts the votes. I can’t wait to see what my God will do!

I promised a prediction last week, but with the vote legitimacy still not certain (if it were, I would predict a Trump win) I want to predict the results we can anticipate from each of the candidates, should they win. I want to do so from the perspective of how closely each can be expected to  keep the civil government solely within its biblical limits—to 1. Protect the law-keepers (1 Timothy 2:1, 2), and 2.) Punish the law-breakers (Romans 13:1-4). Biblically, civil government has nothing to say to business, education, and anything else outside the protect/punish parameters.

1. If Donald Trump wins. I have been surprised to see, as Trump gets more and more familiar with the functioning of civil government and the president’s place in that process, that he is gravitating, naturally and unconsciously, to a more biblical position.

For example, the traditional way we currently solve nation-wide problems is by raising taxes so “the government can fix it.” Our government makes a deal with a foreign country, that has cheap labor, to “fix it” for us. The foreign country then uses that cheap labor to manufacture the “fix,” and sells the cheaper product back to us, with the result being that everyone profits—except the now-closed American manufacturing plants and the laid off American workers!

Trump’s tendency is to “fix it” a different way: bring back or keep businesses here in America by lowering business taxes so the company itself can attack those problems, and then “fix it in America,” with the result being American businesses and their workers profiting. He probably has no clue that this is moving towards the biblical way to “fix it;” i.e., everything besides protect and punish is ignored by the government. It is left to free-thinking, free-acting Americans (our free-enterprise system) to handle!

Trump is reported to be mulling over a truly revolutionary, but biblical concept—abolishing the personal income tax and financing necessary biblical functions with tariffs, just as did the United States before 1913, Wow!

Combine these economic policies with Trump’s demonstrable, first-term border policy and his promised deportation of illegal invaders, and the biblically-thinking citizen has a lot to be hopeful about if Trump wins.

2. If Kamala Harris wins  – On the other hand, Harris has a different perspective. She has promised higher taxes on American citizens but “free everything” to the 10-20 million law-breaking invaders who are inundating our country from over 150 of the 193 nations recognized by the United Nations.

Her whole-hearted support of the “green new deal” and climate control, elimination of all fossil-fuels, along with a wide-open border, cash-less bail and a generally anti-police, soft-on-crime criminal justice system, makes for an uncertain future.

But the most worrisome prospect of a Harris administration, I believe, is the self-conscious attack on the free speech guarantees of the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. Hillary Clinton, still a spokesperson for the Democrat Party, said a couple of weeks ago words to the effect of “If we can’t control the misinformation published on social media, we won’t be able to control the people.” I heard the clip with my own ears!

That is scary, but it expresses perfectly the thinking behind the free-speech-blocking policies of Google, Facebook, Youtube, and other social media outlets. Our nation’s historically unmatched success is due to the FREEDOM our Constitution guarantees us. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). That freedom in America is a hold-over from our colonial beginnings that were based on the Bible and enshrined in our Constitution, and no other nation in the world enjoys that openly-stated freedom. That’s why today’s cultural Marxists must eliminate it!

Trump must win this election and lead the beginning of our reclamation process from the serious decline into Marxism we have experienced over the past 100 years, even though he may not understand the theological significance of his presidency. I believe, if God’s plan for us is to survive as a nation, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, that will happen.

Get ready for tomorrow and the turbulence that will follow if we have a winner, and it is Trump!
