Since there can be no neutrality in civil government, all nations worship a “final authority” that is their god. There are only two options
—Satan and Jehovah, the Triune God of the Bible!. ALL nations are therefore ultimately theocratic and worship one of these two gods!
Although it seems like a far-fetched pipe-dream now, one day I believe a majority of the citizens of the United States will want to be governed by God’s Word, the Bible. When this fact is realized, there are a few changes that will be made in the Constitution, the “Law of the Land.” After all, our current Constitution was written for what the founders mistakenly believed would be a “pluralistic government!” There are four changes I would suggest as a starting point. I have already mentioned the first one in a previous blog posting:
1. The Preamble to the Constitution –The current Preamble reads as follows:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
That is an “in-your-face-we-need-no-one” opening statement! Following is a sample United States Federal Constitution Preamble that expresses the mind-set I believe the modern-day reformers will have as they revise this Preamble. Notice the sharp contrast in attitudes when compared to the current rendition. Each of the individual, state constitutions would begin with the same general statement, applied to the state instead of the nation:
“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, hereby acknowledge that Jesus Christ rules over this nation as our legitimate sovereign Lord and King from His place of authority at God’s right hand. We recognize that He and His law in the Bible are the source of all justice, domestic tranquility, general welfare and liberty for ourselves and our posterity. We ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The initial reaction to such a Preamble is shock, because we have been conditioned to believe that pluralism is the only legitimate, civil government. We have been taught that the Constitution is almost on a par with the Bible, and to question it is to question one of our most cherished presuppositions. However, God is renewing our minds to be able to think a whole new way—as He thinks, and thus, ultimately act as He acts (Isaiah 55:8, 9; Romans 12 :2)!
2.Birthright Citizenship – The second change is the Fourteenth Amendment, ratified in 1868, guaranteeing full citizenship, thus voting and holding public office, to all born in the United States. The initial, foundational statement in the amendment says:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
This amendment will be stricken from our Christian America Constitution because, as we have discussed at some length, citizenship has nothing to do with place of birth.
3. Article 6, Section 3 of the Constitution – After an introductory phrase requiring all civil government employees to take an oath of office affirming their fidelity to the Constitution, this final phrase is added. After not mentioning God in the whole document, its as if they must be sure He is omitted! This is the third likely change:
“No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
In our proposed Article 6, Section 3, of our Constitution for a Christian America, this statement is directly reversed to read:
“All office holders must be United States citizens who have subscribed to a Trinitarian oath and be a member in good standing of a national church in order to hold any office or public trust under the United States.”
The final constitutional adjustment lies within the famous 1st Amendment—the “Personal Freedom” Amendment:
4. The First Amendment
“Congress shall make no law (respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or) abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The phrase within the parentheses in the above copy of the First Amendment will be omitted in the modified, Christian America version of the Constitution. “Establishment” and “free exercise” both suggest something more than personal freedom to worship any god one wishes privately, in his heart, but they imply sharing that experience with others as well.
While those who live in America as “Sojourners” and not citizens will have complete religious freedom to personally choose the god of their choice for themselves. However, if they share their faith with others or attempt to proselytize them to their god in any way, that would be treason—the attempt to install another ruler instead of Jesus in this country! They must leave the United States, as they can neither be citizens nor sojourners here!
So, those are the four adjustments that I believe need to be made to the Constitution to make it battle-ready to attack the gates of Hell!
