Laughing in Battle

Immediately after WWI, a group of German Jewish intellectuals were interested in expanding Karl Marx’s view of economic Marxism to include a cultural aspect as well. They realized that Western Civilization (a product of Christianity) was too firmly embedded in Europe and America to be overcome by purely economic arguments; they worked to devise a method of including cultural change in Marx’s ideas of revolution. This was a direct attack on God and the culture that always follows the true Christian gospel.

The began to formulate their ideas under the name of the Institute for Social Research at the University of Frankfurt (later shortened to the Frankfurt School) about the time of the rise of Hitler and the persecution of Jews in Germany. Ironically many of them moved to the US in the early 1930’s, and found a safe home at Columbia University in the very nation they were plotting to overthrow!

In the late 1990’s, conservative thinkers, led by Paul Weirich, Pat Buchanan and William S. Lind, the Frankfurt School was “outed,” and word began to spread among Christian conservatives of its existence and goals. Today, of course, the left calls the exposing of the Frankfurt School and its mission a “conspiracy theory.” Shades of Hillary Clinton’s “vast, right-wing conspiracy” but also just an awakening of slumbering Christians. This “conspiracy” is similar. Here is a brief summary of the Frankfurt School’s methods to achieve its goal of eliminating Western Civilization.

1. The creation of racial offences.
2. Continual change to create confusion.
3. The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children.
4. The undermining of schools’ and teachers’ authority.
5. Huge immigration to destroy identity.
6. The promotion of excessive drinking and drugs.
7. Emptying of churches.
8. An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime.
9. Dependency on the state or state benefits.
10. Control and dumbing down of media.
11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family.

One of the main ideas of the Frankfurt School was to exploit Sigmund Freud’s idea of “pansexualism”—the search for pleasure, the exploitation of the differences between the sexes, the overthrowing of traditional relationships between men and women. To further their aims they would:

• Attack the authority of the father, deny the specific roles of father and mother, and wrest away from families their rights as primary educators of their children.
• Abolish differences in the education of boys and girls.
• Abolish all forms of male dominance – hence the presence of women in the armed forces.
• Declare women to be an ‘oppressed class’ and men as ‘oppressors.’

One of the Frankfurt School’s members, Willi Munzenburg, stated the Frankfurt School’s long-term operation thusly: “We will make the West so corrupt that it stinks.” They have worked their plan to perfection. After being softened up during the “sexual revolution” of the 60’s, the family, the literal foundation of our society and one of God’s three institutions to extend His kingdom, is now under obvious, full-frontal attack.

The Bible prophesied just such a situation. The only problem is that the church has been castrated by its own theology in such a way that it is unable to resist Satan’s attack successfully. How so?

When a group like the Frankfurt School appears, the theology that the majority of the evangelical church in America has believed for the past 150 years is exposed as a tragically defeatist, pessimistic theology. The church has believed that it is really powerless to defeat sin and the devil in this life, except in one’s own private life. In other words, Christianity has nothing to say to the culture in the public square, particularly politically, so we have retreated behind the walls of the church, huddling together in prayer groups, hoping desperately for the Lord’s return at any time to save us.

We are convinced that the Lord will not answer in this life the prayer He commands us to pray: “Thy kingdom come . . . on earth as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10). The gates of Hell will be able to withstand the church’s attack after all, in this life, contrary to what Matthew 16:18 teaches us!.

However, Psalm 2 is a biblical picture of exactly what is occurring in our culture, contrary to this picture we have been taught:  

Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens (God the Father) shall laugh; The LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He (God the Father) shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: “Yet I have set My King (Jesus) on My holy hill of Zion.”

(Jesus) “I will declare the decree: The LORD (God the Father) has said to Me, (Jesus) ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. (Psalm 2:1-12).

God sits in heaven and watches as the kings of the nations, energized by Satan’s principalities and powers, rage against God’s law. Could anything be more obvious right now? The world hates anything that has to do with Christianity, and they are boldly taking those feelings, always in their hearts, now onto practically every mainstream television broadcast and into every newspaper article. God is laughing at their frantic, pointless, ineffective antics.

At the same time, we are increasingly laying aside our false theology and realizing that Satan was completely defeated at the cross, and the church has been given the task of “mopping up” his guerrilla fighters who, though ignominiously defeated, still refuse to bow their knees to King Jesus. We, God’s children, are willingly, eagerly, and increasingly joining the battle, wielding the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, as we attack our enemies with love in exchange for hatred, King Jesus tells us the gates of Hell will not stop our advance. We were created for this very time in history!
