The Election

For the past two years we have faced one of the most difficult times in our country’s history. The freedoms assured us in our Constitution, and that our government officials swear to protect as they are sworn in, have been challenged. The Constitution, based on biblical truth, is itself under assault by a major political party for the first time in my lifetime.  It has been a tense two years.

This makes many wonder, “What does the future hold for America?” We don’t know what God has up His sleeve, but we do know that He placed Joe Biden in office as president, along with all the politicians in office around the country. We don’t know “why?” but we do know the end game is that King Jesus will rule over the earth, and we have a part to pay in that rule (Genesis 1:26)!

That includes choosing our own political leaders in our democratic republic. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I believe the Bible teaches that the civil government is one of the three institutions that God is using to establish His rule, along with the family and the church. We are encouraged to be heavily involved in our churches and, of course, in our families. However, the church has not taught us to be involved in our civil government.

As a matter of fact, we are even told that “politics is a dirty business” and to “stay out of it.” However, civil government was clearly established by God in Genesis 9 after the flood and was supported as a godly institution by Paul in Romans 13:1-4 and Peter in 1 Peter 2:13-15. It is one of only three God-ordained institutions that He uses to spread His kingdom over the earth!

Next Tuesday we have a chance to participate in that rule by choosing our leaders. Voting is an entry-level position in this phase of the Family Business of ruling over the earth. By doing so, we have the opportunity to choose those who want to rule by constitutional (biblical) principles. Armed with a compendium of the positions of each candidate for office on my ballot, put out by “We Believe; We Vote,” Jil and I have already voted. We participated in the original Great Commission in Genesis 1:26. I want to encourage you to do likewise on or before Tuesday.

We too were just sick that you and Jane couldn’t come. You are such an inspiration to me – the classic “Who, me?” literal world changer! Let’s keep in touch.
