We have been sharpening the grace-edge of the two-edged sword of the Word of God for the past few weeks as we have investigated
Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:3, “ Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”
I believe that Jesus’ use of the word “converted” does not imply “becoming a Christian,” or “deciding to believe in Jesus” in this verse. I believe He means converting to a whole new way to think—by simply “trusting what Daddy is telling me in my heart.” This is an experiential happening, not learned, intellectual head-knowledge! The biblical term for this experience is “Walking by Faith,” or “Walking in the Spirit.”
In past blog postings, we have discussed in detail that the biblical civil government is a THEOCRACY (a dirty word to our conditioned, American culture). The Hebrew Republic is our model, first instituted by Moses with the giving of the Law in about 1450 B.C. In his excellent, 19th century book, Roots of the American Republic. E.C. Wines demonstrates how this 400-year republic modeled beautifully our U.S. Constitution. It ended in about 1050 when Israel demanded a human king, and God gave them Saul.
However, Wines did not discuss the blatant discrepancy between the obvious THEOCRACY of the Hebrew Republic and the deliberately emphasized PLURALISM of the U.S. Constitution. The Founders did not see the disaster that the impossibility of pluralism would bring on our country. My detailed analysis of the founder’s intentional rejection of Christianity as our national religion, and the proposed changes to the Constitution to alleviate the problem, are available free in my PDF copy of: Copy of Let Earth Receive Her King (2).pdf .
It has been estimated that some 90 percent of the new citizens of the United States at its founding were de facto (actual, in fact) Christians. The Constitution made all these new U.S. citizens de jure (legally) political pluralists!
But, in spite of constitutional resistance and opposition, the Kingdom of God continues on the march! The sails of the Ship of the Kingdom are billowing as they fill with the gale-force winds of the proclamation of the Gospel of the Grace of God, as we have done for the past few weeks.
This modern-day Little Children’s Crusade is arriving! Do you believe it? Can you see it? “Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see” (Hebrews 11:1)! Little children can see the masts of the vast armada of Kingdom Ships filling the horizon!
